After 20 years of practising contentious intellectual property law (8 years at various law firms in the City of London and 12 years as in-house counsel at Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Limited) Alan McBride set up Patent Coordination Limited in January 2026.

Alan has specialised in patent litigation in the pharmaceutical sector.  In the UK, he has experience in proceedings before the High Court, the Court of Appeal and the House of Lords (now The Supreme Court).  He has been responsible for pharmaceutical product coordination projects, in which he managed patent litigation in Europe and in a number of other countries.  He has regularly worked alongside lawyers and patent attorneys in various jurisdictions within Europe, the Americas, Asia and Australasia. 

Before entering the legal profession, he was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at University College London and a Lecturer in Chemistry in Nassau, Bahamas.

He is a co-author of the UK chapter of Intellectual Property Review and the author of numerous articles and blog entries on intellectual property matters.
